objective The clinical characteristics of prehypertension and whetherneed to therapy is remained largely unknown. In order to comprehend thehypertension type, the correlated cardiovascular risk factors, the structural andfunctional changes of heart, providing epidemeological evidence forprehypertension management the characteristics and related parameters ofprehypertensive people in Chengdu urban district were analyzedMethods The health examination data of the medical examinationcenter of Sichuan Province People Hospital from November,2010 toOctober,2011 was collected and analyzed. Age from 19 to 65 years old, bloodpressure was limited from normal level to first stage hypertension(≤159/99mmHg). Parameters including gender ,age, body height, body weight, blood pressure (BP), resting heart rate(RHR), fasting blood glucose(FBG),total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein cholesferol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), blood uric acid(UA),total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin(DBIL), indirect bilirubin(IBIL) and theresult of heart color Doppler inspection were collected and recorded.Patients who received antihypertensive treatment were excluded. All of thedata were divided into 3 groups according to the blood pressure level: thenormal blood pressure, prehypertension and hypertension, while theprehypertension group was divided into 3 subgroups: isolated systolicprehypertension, isolated diastolic prehypertension and both systolic anddiastolic prehypertension. Every ten years as an age stage, all the data was divided into five stages. Median, Kruskal Wallis Test and non-conditionalLogistic regression were used to analysis the differences between groups andwithin groups to comprehend the cardiovascular risk factors, the structuraland functions of heart between different groups. Results 1.Prehypertensive people were mainly distributed from 26 to55, totally 5982(77.9%). Among which 2400(31.3%) were from 41 to 55,male for 5513(71.8%).Incidence of prehypertension increased gradually withthe age from 19 to 40 and conversed from 41 to 65. In the group of prehyper-tension, 2985(38.9%) were isolated systolic prehypertension, 1579(20.6%)were isolated diastolic prehypertension only, 3109(40.5%) were systolic anddiastolic prehypertension.2.Body mass index(BMI), total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), lowdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), fasting blood glucose(FBG) andblood uric acid(UA)were directly correlated to levels of blood pressure(BP),and high density lipoprotein cholesferol(HDL-C) was inversely correlated tothe levels of blood pressure(BP).It existed significantly statisticaldifference between groups(P<0.05). When Compared prehypertension groupwith normal blood pressure group, parameters including gender, age, bodymass index (BMI),resting heart rate(RHR), fasting blood glucose(FBG),totalcholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein cholesferol(HDL-C) and blood uricacid(UA) were entered in the Logistic regression model.3.Ascending aorta internal dimension, left atrium internal diameter, leftventricular internal diameter and interventricular septum thickness had directcorrelation to levels of blood pressure(BP), diastolic function of leftventricular had inverse correlation to levels of blood pressure(BP). And it alsohad significantly statistical difference between prehypertension group and normal blood pressure group (P<0.05).Conclusion 1.The number of prehypertensive male gender is morethan female in people of the health examination of Chengdu urban district. And relatively high incidence of prehypertension was mainly during the agestage from 36 to 45, manifested by isolated systolic prehypertension ,systolicand diastolic prehypertension. And increased incidence of dysbolism wasexisted in prehypertension.2.The main influential factors of blood pressure included male gender, increased body mass index(BMI), high blood uric acid(UA),fast resting heartrate(RHR), dyslipidemia , high fasting blood glucose(FBG) and abnormalbilirubin.3.Heart damage had already existed in prehypertensive peopleincluding enlarged ascending aorta, left atrium and impaired left ventriculardiastolicfunction.4. It is necessary to manage prehypertensive people, control those cardio-vascular risk factors, medicine interventions could be considered based on lifestyle improvement.
