ObjectiveThis paper was aim to thoroughly implement the spirit of the16thconference of all academies and the indication of military commanders thatmilitary medical universities are responsible for training excellent generalpractitioners for primary military units and the remote areas based on the greatbackground of adjustment of the military academies and training institutions.Additionally, military headquarters required our university (Fourth MilitaryMedical University) should adapt the needs of primary military units and initiate5year cultivation program for undergraduates of the general practitioners in2012.Based on the reality that the purpose of military medical universities is toculture professional talents, it is essential to develop the culture model for thegeneral practitioners to embody the mission of the military medical universitiesthat they should serve army and soldiers and meet the demand of overall construction. Taking example by advanced educational idea and practice athome and abroad, we were trying to find out the present situation and mainproblems in the military medical education for primary military unit. And wewere also trying to check each links of military medical cultivation once again,and build the training model of cultivation for the general practitioners followingthe laws of the military medical academic education. Our work aimed to culturemilitary general practitioners with high quality and practicality and to enhancethe quality of medical education and the level of health work of primary militaryunit. Furthermore, it taked on the heavy responsibility for culturing qualifiedmilitary medical talents to win the high-tech warfare in the future.MethodsThis study adopted many methods including literature review, spotinvestigation, questionnaire investigation and expert consultation (Delphimethod) to bulid training model of cultivation for the general practitioners inprimary military units.ContentsThis research kept so tight down in the newly opened mayjor——five-year education for the general practitioners in Medical University. Thisstudy included three parts.Part I: Outline of this study: this research summarized the background oftalent training model of the general practitioners s in primary military units. Thefirst part defined the concepts of the talent training model, general practice andmilitary general practice and reviewed the present situation of the medicaleducation for the general practitioners at home and abroad. Part II: The investigation and analysis of training model of the generalpractitioners: Data reported in the investigation were from first-level healthworkers of seven military regions of PLA. The following contents were includedin the investigation:⑴the basic situation of the study population;⑵the needand the grasp of medical knowledge of the first-level health workers in primarymilitary units;⑶the medical health service of first-level health workers inprimary military units. Data are analyzed by using Excel2007. And we built amodel of culturing the general practitioners, and we analysed the needs ofculturing the general practitioners from the obtained data, including theproblems in this process, the principle in the culturing process, and theexperiences in this process.Part III: Preliminary construction of talent training model of militarygeneral practitioners in primary military units: we combined the presentsituation of talent training of the military grass roots doctors, and put forwardgeneral idea about culturing military general practitioners in primary militaryunits. We also constructed training targets and made processes of culturingmilitary general practitioners more reasonable in primary military units. And wealso determined the training targets and curriculum design of military generalpractitioners in primary military units by consulting the experts. Furthermore,we discussed about the curriculum and the teaching methods in the culturing ofthe general practitioners in primary military units.Conclusions1. The paper constructed training targets for military general practitioner inprimary military units, including: general objective,5divisional objectives(ideology and politics, scientific knowledge, military basic training, professional quality, physical and psychological conditions) and44structured standard ofknowledge, capacity and quality.2. The paper determined curriculum design that includes three boardcategory (the general education, professional education, vocational education)and six classes (political theories, scientific knowledge, military basic training,professional basic training, professional direction and military medicine) for theculturing the military general practitioners in primary military units by expertconsultation.
