| ObjectiveThe aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the effect of weight reductionon menstrual disturbance obese women.MethodsForty-one overweight or obese women with menstrual disturbance were enrolledin this study from Fujian Medical University Union Hospital.The patients weredivided into two groups,one group was diet control,more exercise and behaviortherapy,another group plus metformin on this basis,and to oberserve the effects ofmetforim on BMI,abdominal circumference,hip circumference,WHR,menstruation ofobese women. On the another side,all patients were divided into two groups accordingto the weight reduction ratio:one group for weight reduction less than5%,anothergroup for weight reduction greater than5%.Results1.Waist circumference,hip circumference,body mass index were significantlyreduced after three months of weight loss treatment.Nine patients in the group ofweight reduction less than5%had a resumption of regular cycles.Seventeen patientsin the group of weight reduction greater than5%had a resumption of regularcycles.Among the thirty-eight sterile patients,seven patients pregnancies.It had asignificant difference compared to the two groups in improving menstruation status(P<0.05).2. BMI,abdominal circumference,hip circumference,WHR had a significantdifference compared to simple obesity or overweight women and PCOS women.3. Before and after two treatment options A and B,body weight,BMI,abdominalcircumference,menstrual cycles in simple obesity or overweight women had asignificant difference.Obes PCOS women are also like this. ConclusionsWeight reduction can improve the menstruation status of women who wereoverweight or obesity significantly.Diet control,more exercises and behavior therapyshould be the first choosed therapeutic option for menstrual disturbance obesewomen.On the basis of this treatment so that patients can get a better treatment effectwith metformin. |
