| ‘L600’,‘xiaohongyu’,‘203Z’, and ‘Hongwei’ watermelon were choosed and grafted on pumpkin, gourd, wild watermelon and xiaogan gourd watermelon,the effect of differert rootstocks on the growth potential of watermelon plants and some chaeacters of the fruit were studied.The lycopene, citrulline,total sugar, fructose, glucose, sucrose, total Vitamin C (TAA), reduced vitamin C (AA) and oxidized vitamin C (DHAA) content of matured watermelon fruit were analysised.The differerence on these conponents in different rootstocks and cions were studied,and make a hit in the elementary method of lycopene’s content in watermelon fruit using Colorimeter to forecast.The results would be provided theoretic basis for harvesting and processing in watermelon grafting. The main results were as follows:1.The effect of pumpkin rootstock on the growth potential of watermelon plants is the most significant and the second is xiaogan gourd.2.Grafting has no effect on watermelon’s color and pattern and little effect on the shape of the fruit, while Peel’s hardness and thickness vary from stock to stock. Single watermelon’s weight differs after grafting. Bottle gourd stocks decrease the yeild by lowering the weight of the signal watermelon. Different bottle gourd stock has different effect on the color and quality of the contents of the watermelon. Pumpkins and bottle gourd will reinforce the content’s color and cause the quality of the content to become coarse. However, the watermelon and edible gourd in the wild won’t be affected.ã€3.The grafted pumpkins will have lower Lycopene, but the bottle gourd and edible gourd’s effects on Lycopene’ s quantity change from scion to scion while the watermelon in the wild only has big effect on the “xiaohongyuxuanâ€â€˜s Lycopene.4.The pumpkin’s Citrulline’s quantity will be decreased after grafting. As stocks, gourd and xiaogan edible gourd have no effect on the quantity of the Citrulline, but the other three experimental varieties’s contents decrease obviously. The watermelon in the wide has different effect on different Citrulline scion varieties’ contents. 5.The contents of total sugar and sucrose I pumpkin will become lower after grafting,while gourds only has significant effect on the contents of the sucrose. When using wild watermelons as the stocks, the total sugar and sucrose’s contents will decrease to some extents. Xiaogan gourd has little effect on the contents of sugar. Fruits’ sucrose’s contents are affected slightly by the different types of stocks. Although after grafting, four kinds of stocks’ contents of sucrose differ from those of the original fruits but that hasn’t become obvious.6.The pumpkin and xiaogan gourd have little effect on the contents of vc. Four species of TAA and DHAA’s contents have no big reduction compared with the original roots. After grafting, only the xiaohongyuxuan in the wild watermelon will have lower contents of dhaa. Gourds affect the contents of the vc significantly and cause different species’’ different vc’s contents to decrease.7.After experimenting on the two diploid watermelons, the regression equation of deducing the colorimeter and lycopene content is gained. After checked, it is founded that the predicted result has high accuracy so that the Colorimeter estimation method can be used as the simple way of predicting the contents of lycopene in the diploid watermelons. |
