Clematis manshurica Rupr. is a perennial climbing herbaceous of Clematis in Ranunculaceae, the root and rhizomes of the plant named "Weilingxian". Wild plants mainly distributed in northeast and North China, central and eastern of Jilin province. It is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory, antitumor, andanalgesic agent in Traditional Chinese Medicinal (TCM). The environment of distribution area existed comparative difference. So the germination characteristics of C.manshurica seed, was studied photosynthetic characteristics and the relationship between its growth, active ingredient content and water supply were studied, this knowledge it is of great importance to guide the cultivation and management of C. manshurica in China.1) Gemination characteristics of C. manshuricaThe germination of biological charaeterstits was studied, and the results showed the1000gram weighe was7.889g,the seed viability was81.2%.The rmbibitan time was44hour;the germination rate was high at25℃that the seeds was mixed with three time of wet sand;after120-160days of cold stratification treatment at4drgree;the germination rate was high with GA3treatment of500mg/L at so king time2h.2) Effect of water factor on photosynthesis characteristics of C. manshuricaPn values of C. manshurica indiffenent water supply could be expressed as two hump curves, reffleeting a obvious middy depression at noon. The net photosynthetic rate of C. mandshurica is a little higher under the condition of450mm water supply than others, showing that450mm of water supply can increase humidification, which greatly improve the micro-environment of C. mandshurica and relieve water stress, so that the net photosynthetic rate of C. mandshurica significantly improved. In addition, the net photosynthetic rate of C. mandshurica was relatively low under the condition of300mm water supply, so over draught caused low photosynthetic efficiency, which is not good for the growth of C. mandshurica. Therefore, in the production practice, it is condusive to increasing the net photosynthetic rate of C. mandshurica by moderately controlling the intensity of water supply, which is an important measure to increase the output of C.mandshurica.3) Effects of water supply on growing development and biomass of C. manshuricaThere is a significant difference in the biomass of root, rhizome, stem and leaf of biennial and three-year-old C. mandshurica between the conditions of300mm water supply and others; and the biomass of root and rhizome is the highest in450mm water supply, having a big difference from other water treatments; the ratio of underground biomass and rhizome shoot is the highest in450mm and600mm water supply, which different from that in300mm water supply. This has demonstrated in the C. mandshurica distributed more biomass into rhizome moderately controlling water supply, which has a great importance to improve the yeild of medicinal materials. 4) Effects of water supply on qualities of Clematis manshurica Rupr. and The determination of optimal harvest time. The oleanolic acid content of biennial and three-yrar-old C. mandshurica had no significant difference between among different water sppuly old.The oleanolic acid content was the highest in mid-september under water treatment. The oleanolic acid content of three-year-old C. mandshurica had a siginificant increased compared to2years old. Therefore, the best harvest time of underground parts showld be after the seeds mature in mid-September or late october...
