Market competition pace is becoming more and more severely, which makeagricultural machinery development speed becoming the most challenging factor. Thetraditional development mehod of a new product need a long time and high cost,whichwill result in serious deterioration of product and low competitiveness. Virtual Prototypetechnology provide a powerful tool to solve these problems. To overcome theshortcoming of existing agricultural machinery design and evaluate means, VirtualPrototype technology was introduced to the design and development field of cornplanter,it will greatly improve the design speed and reduce the cost,and also provide aneffective way for developing agricultural machinery.This paper mainly contents thefollowing aspects:Firstly,according to the basic design principles and requirements of corn planter,seed metering device,furrower opener,driving device,soil covering device and groundwheel were analysed and designed. Their geometry parameters and mathematics modelwere getted. This played a foreshadowing role and provided a theoretical basis for thefollowing3-dimensional model building.Secondly, each part of the corn planter was built by using3-dimensional modelingsoftware Pro/E,especially the furrower opener. Then the corn planter assembly designand interference check were done.The virtual assembly process of the corn planter wasshown in an intuitive way,which could provide a reference to make the path of physicalassembly. The design speed was effectively improved in this way.Lastly,in order to ascertain the load situation of the corn planter’s key parts duingworking process,ANSYS Workbench11.0was used to analyse the furrower opener andsuspension device. The easily damaged place and damage reason were found out,thickessof furrower opener was ascertained,which povide a reference for physical manufacture.Stress concerntration place of suspension device was found and its broken reason wasanalysed.2optimization scheme were put forward and the ultmate scheme wasascertained for manufacture by comparison.
