An optimal investigation is made for the bogie frame of CRH2type EMU. And then, the solid model is introduced into HYPERMESH to get FE mesh model of the frame, in which the connections are coupled of parallel shell and sheel-solid. The24#loading case in the code UIC615-4is applied to calculate the frame stress distribution. Under the constraint space of allowable stress of the code, the plate thickness is optimized using the OptiStruct software. A decrease of eight percent of the frame weight is reached.The monotonic and fatigue strength are furtherly calibrated for the optimized frame. The codes UIC615and EN13749are applied. Through checking the31locations around connections between the frame and bogie belongings, results reveal that the frame is acceptable when the frame is made by the code material SMA490BW.
