The development of China’s water resources and hydropower engineering is very early, the number of water conservancy projects is the largest in the world. These water conservancy projects play an important role on the development of the national economy and people’s living building. Earth-rock dam is one of the most important dams. Due to its simple construction, low require on geological conditions, low cost, can make use of the materials and its rich resources, the building of earth-rock dam has a very long history. Now, with the development of technology, the earth-rock dam engineering has a big improvement and development in the level of building and technology. Earth-rock dam seepage analysis and slope stability analysis is always the focus in the earth-rock dam design. Accurately judge the earth-rock dam hazards and diseases, and to take processing and reinforcement measures on time so that it can make sure that the earth-rock dam can give full play to the its benefits. The purpose of this paper is to study whether the XiaoJiehe dam can meet slope stability under seepage action. This problem is analyzed by GEOSLOPE.This paper will first elaborate the research and methods of seepage analysis and slope stability analysis. And then, starting from the earth-rock dam seepage analysis, it will make a detailed description of the basic theory o f seepage, the basic principles of the finite element method and implementation steps as well as the calculation method of seepage analysis. Then it will introduce the dam slope stability analysis method, the focus is on the limit equilibrium method and finite element method. Last of all, combined with theoretical knowledge, it will use GEOSLOPE to analysis the problem through two seepage working conditions and four slope stability working conditions, and get the results.Though seepage calculation, it can get that the amount of single-wide seepage on normal water level working condition is5.305m3/d, on checking water level working condition is5.168m3/d. On the basis of those results, the dam slope stability will calculation four working conditions including normal use condition, non-normal use I condition, non-normal useⅡ condition, water level landing condition. The results of upstream slope’s minimum safety factor are2.189,2.152,1.719,1.022, the results of downstream slope’s are1.395,1.40,1.180,1.395. Though the results, we can judge that the XiaoJiehe dam can meet slope stability under seepage action.
