On The Architecture Form And Value Of The Ancient Residential Houses In Shanxi

Ancient residential houses, as an essential part of the living environment of humanbeings, have undergone a long time since its appearance. As time goes on, the influence ofnatural environment on the development of the architecture has gradually weakened while theinfluence of the history of different periods on the traditional residential houses has beenstrenghtened. It is human beings who create the history and whose living environment andstyle are being influenced by the history. Shanxi is a province where the ancient resientialhouses are perfectly preserved. The ancient residential houses refletct the true history,economy and culture in Shanxi province. In this thesis, the architecture form, cause, layout,and value of the ancient residential houses in Shanxi province has been throughly analyzed,which will provide some suggestions to the preservation and inheritance of the ancientresidential houses.
