The drawing process is the key process of automobile panel forming. And the designof drawing die-face is the main contents of panel stamping process design. On the basis ofthe PDCAPP system which has been developed based on the UG platform by State KeyLab of Material Processing and Die&Mould Technology, Huazhong University ofScience&Technology.The key technologies in die-face design, such as addendum design, exssessdraw design and surface pretreatment methods are also deeply researched and analysized,that enhances and improves the practicality of the system.Refined design aims to generate processing oriented addendum through PDCAPPsystem by one-time or with simply trace local modification, which can meet the actualrequirements of the process, and the quality requirements such as at least one ordercontinuous, no defect; thereby simplifying the iteration process," design—> analysis—> optimal design ", of the die face design, and enhancing the practicability of the system.In this paper, based on the original system, the deeply reasearch on the section line base,ways of addendum surface segmentation to create, the transition of the different typesection lines through practical investigation, and methods of the guide line creation, hasbeen conducted on, to produce high quality addendum surface, which also meets therequirements of simplifing the drawing process, and uniforming the drawing depth.The addendum surface design is one of the key contents of drawing die-face design.In this paper, the addendum surface has been created with the parameterized sectioncurves. The section features of the common addendum surface are researched, and atemplate library with9types of section curve templates has been established usingtemplate method and variational technique. After the section template library being loaded,through the analysis and calculation of the product surface boundary, a section curve canbe generated by relocating and creating an instance of the section curve template. And theparameterized addendum surface can be created with section curves and parametic guidelines, which are also associated with section curves.The pretreatment of the panel product surface has great influence with the efficiencyand quality of drawing die-face design. By researching the features of variety kinds ofproducts, the common difficulties and key technologies in surface pretreatment are summed up. The surface pretreatment methods, and the parametric design exssess draw,has been proposed and realized, which improves the quality and efficiency of the die-facedesign and the practicality of the system.
