Structure can be defined as a collection of materials, which are regularlyarranged and connected, so we can say that beginning of structure is connection. Aswe all know, architects should understand that connected materials consist ofstructure. Furthermore, they should master the methods of connection.Connection of building materials is not only basis of building function butalso method and language of architecture design. Studying methods ofconstructional connection and finding law and design principles of connection, willgive us reference and guidance. The purpose of this paper includes three points.The first purpose is finding laws of connective methods, summarizing designprinciples, and guiding design of construction. Second, applying methods ofconstructional connection cunningly will enrich language of architecture designand make technology and art combined perfectly. Finally, studying methods ofconnection can grasp detail of building and realize exquisitely design.Methods of connection are the main content of this paper. First, Structuralcharacteristic of materials will be discussed, and on the basis of this, connectionmethods of every selected material will be listed as many as possible. Second, inorder to explore how to improve connective methods and summarize the designprinciples of them, typical connective methods will be study deeply. The paperbases on constructional theories and its scope will not go beyond construction. Thestudy object is connective methods, and connection between Structural materials isstarting points. The purpose of study is finding laws of connective methods, sostress analysis of the connection which consist of Structural materials, exceeds thispaper’s scope. The study methods mainly include two categories. Organizing andsummarizing method is applied to organize connective methods and summarizecharacteristic of methods. Applying of comparative analysis method to compareconnective methods between same material and different form of same methods, wecan find laws of connective methods.It involved a total of five chapters.The first chapter gives the research background, the existing research and theresearch perspective, purpose and content.The second chapter describes typical structural material characteristics, whichare related to structure function.The third chapter enumerates various connective methods which are made ofstructural material.The fourth chapter summarizes various connective methods, study typicalconnective methods how to achieve structural function, and summarize laws ofconnective methods through comparative different form.The fifth chapter proposes the design principle of connective methods.
