The rotating nut ballscrew pair is a new type mechanism. While the heavier screw is fixed, the lighter nut’s rotating motion is combined with the linear motion., which has advantages of high transmission precision, low equipment noise, low energy consumption, high system security and so on.According to the theories of tribology, heat transfer and finite element method, the paper analyzes the thermal characteristics of the rotating nut ballscrew pair in certain conditions. The detailed research contents are as follows:First, the new type mechanism of rotating nut ballscrew pair id built, and the path of heat transfer in the system is analyzed. Then the thermal nodes in the mechanism are arranged respectively and the thermal network diagram is mapped. Based on Kirchhoff’s law, the heat balance equation of each node is established.Second, the calculation models of heat source, heat resistance and heat transfer coefficient are determined. Based on the given parameters and computational data, the temperature value of each mode in the system is calculated using MATLAB, and the node-temperature diagram is drawn. Then the effect of some parameters on the temperature field of the mechanism is analyzed.Third, the finite element model of the system is established. The calculated data of the thermal network method is introduced as the boundary condition, and the ABAQUS software is used for the simulation of the temperature field distribution of the mechanism. Also the change law of the temperature with time of the important components is analtzed, and the result of finite element method is compared with that of thermal network method.Forth, some measures improving the temperature field distribution of the system are put forward.Based on the research above, the theoretical calculation and software simulation on the temperature field of the rotating nut ballscrew pair is accomplished, which not only lays a good foundation for the further analysis on the thermal stress and deformation of the system, but also provides important basis for the optimal design of the mechanism.
