With the Rolling Stock towards to huge axle load and high speed development, the mechanical properties of bogie frame play significant role on successful operation and transportation safety of railway vehicles.Finite element model for the powered bogie welded frame of CRH2type motor unit is established by Hypermesh and Ansys. According to International Union of Railways Standard UIC615-4and Europen railway standard EN13749, the applied loads for are estimated by the codes, in which super-normal loads, service loads and additional loads are included. Simulated test loading cases were constructed by grouping the loads including those for static strength and fatigue strength. And then finite analysis is made in sequent correspoding to the load cases. The static strength and the fatigue strength of the bogie frame are evaluated by the UIC615-4. It is verified that the bogie welded frame meets the requirements of code for static strength and fatigue strength.A conmprison is made of the results between UIC615-4and JIS E4207. Results reals that the former has both maxium load case and operational load cases, while the later has only the operational load cases but values of the cases are between those of the maximum one and operational cases of the former. The maximum one is applied for assessing static strength in terms of fourth strength theory and the operational cases are used for estimating fatigue strength with Goodman strength diagram of bogie frame in the UIC code. While in the JIS code, average value and dynamic amplitude are firstly calculated for the fatigue strength assessment. And then, the maxium value with the average value plus the amplitude is applied for the static strength measuring. What a valuable note is that the locations of the maximum stresses are not same for the two codes.
