Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) have been considered to have good applicationprospect due to its low-cost, easy-made and high-efficiency. Electrolytes play a key factorin DSSC. Although the overall power conversion efficiency is high for DSSC with theliquid electrolyte, the solvent evaporation and leakage of the liquid electrolyte-based DSSCincreases the difficulty in sealing the device and reduces the long-term stability of cells.Glass was used as the substrate for traditional DSSC, but the big weight and breakabledefect of glass substrate narrowed the applied area.In this work, acid-oxidized MWCNTs were used as a gelling agent because of itsgood electrochemical performance and applied in DSSCs. Flexible PET were used as asubstrate due to its small weight and easy-made and applied in the fabrication of DSSCs.Main contents and conclusions contained two parts as follows.1. Acid-oxidized MWCNTs were synthesized and characterized by FTIR. A.MWCNTs were used as a gelling agent to prepare the MWCNT/IL gel electrolyte whichcan be used in DSSCs, and a series of test were studied, including viscosity, conductivityand ion diffusion coefficient. Finally, the fabricated quasi-solid–state devices give anoverall power conversion efficiency of about5.74%at25°C under simulated radiation(100mW/cm2). DSSCs based on MWCNT/IL electrolytes show excellent long-timestability. These results demonstrate a feasible approach to quasi-solid–state DSSCs forpractical outdoor application.2. TiO2nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized by SEM, XRD. TiO2nanoparticles were mixed with water, alcohol and tetrabutyl titanate to prepare the TiO2paste, flexible photoanode were made by low temperature sintering, UV treatment andhydrothermal treatment, AFM test were studied. Finally, the flexible photoanode have beenemployed to fabricate Flexiblet. The cells with the flexible ptotoanode showed maximumefficiency of1.10%under the simulated air mass1.5solar spectrum illumination at100 mW cm-2.
