It was found that rare earth complexes as rubber antioxidant had good anti agingperformance in recent research. However, the development in research and further applicationof rare earth antioxidant is restricted because of the high price of the rare earth. In order toobtain new rare earth antioxidant with high efficiency and low cost, rare earth complexeswere supported onto SiO2as rubber antioxidant, and compounded with existing rubberantioxidant. It was based on the production requirement and the research foundation.Therefore, It had economic benefit and social significance.The2-Mercaptobenzimidazole lanthanum complex (La-MB) and vitamin C lanthanumcomplex (La-VC) were synthesized, and supported onto SiO2by hydrogen bonds and van derWaals force. The results indicated that the support was successful by FTIR, XRD and TG. Theeffects of the amount of the SiO2and temperature on reaction were investigated. Theantioxidative properties, mechanical properties and curing characteristics of NR which mixsilica-supported were studied. It was found that the support not only can improve the yield ofthe rare earth complexes, the dispersibility in the rubber, the rubber vulcanization rate, andalso can improve the significant antioxidative effect in NR. The results showed that thesupported rare earth complexes antioxidant is a new type of antioxidant that deserves furtherstudy.The rare earth complexes were compounded with common rubber antioxidant4010NA,RD as rubber antioxidants. The effect of the compounded antioxidants on the photo-ageing,ozone ageing and fatigue ageing of NR and SBR vulcanizates were investigated. The resultsshowed that the NR vulcanizate with La-VC/4010NA had a higher resistance in heat-agingproperties and ozone aging properties. The NR vulcanizate with La-MB/4010NA also canimprove the heat-aging properties but reduce UV aging properties.
