Full hydrogen bell-type annealing furnace is an important equipment, mainly used forannealing of cold rolled steel coil. It uses hydrogen as protective gas, which can improve heattransfer efficiency greatly. Compared to the traditional bell-type furnaces, it gets manyimprovements in tightness, structure, degree of automation. But the energy consumptionproblem still exists. How to save energy efficiently is becoming a key factor in design of fullhydrogen bell-type annealing furnace.Regenerative combustion technology, also called high-temperature combustiontechnology, is a effective way to conserve energy in recent years. It can store the heat carriedby high-temperature flue gas to heat the combustion air, for energy saving. It is currentlyused for blast furnaces and metallurgical furnaces. In this paper, high-temperature combustion technology was used to design a new typefull hydrogen bell-type furnace for energy saving. At first, we begin with the structure, combustion system and control method, according to the principle of regenerativecombustion technology, identify burning system of the type of furnaces and combustion way,and design the structure parameters and operating parameters of the heat exchanger based onresearch results. Finally, an existing hydrogen bell-type furnace was reformed according to the principleof regenerative combustion technology. And the structure parameters and operatingparameters of it was identified. Simulation software ANSYS was used to simulate heattransfer process of the heat exchanger, and the result show that the thermal efficiency can beincreased to80%.
