Rollers are the key production tools of the iron and steel company. The quality of themanagement level is directly related to the quality of rolled production and cost. At the sametime, it has a direct impact on the efficiency and productivity effect of the company. A rollermanagement information system for the units based on WEB was designed in the paper. Theunits of a cold rolling mill in a domestic iron and steel company were researched.At the beginning, the key technologies which were necessary for the system developmentwere analyzed. They included B/S model, UML, ASP.NET2.0technology, MVC design model,database technology, etc. The theory and technology foundation for the development of thesystem were established.Then, with the enterprise’s present situation and the management process of the units’ wholelife cycle, the requirements of the system were analyzed. The function requirements, moduledemand and the data security needs were discussed in details.At last, by using the WEB development model, the overall architecture, functionalarchitecture and the database of the system were designed and developed. The maintainabilityand scalability of the system were also fully considered. The database design was furtherdiscussed by process database and access database.The system was a roll system management software for the rollers management system of acold rolling mill. Three-tier B/S Model was adopted in the system. It made the system seamlessjoint by the.net framework. The design, manufacturing, application and maintenance, until thediscard of the rolls in the life cycle were achieved.
