The concept and experimental research methods of rheology were introduced in thispaper. The rheology of different polymer solutions was measured by HAAKE RS150rheometer. The influence of mass concentration, molecular weight and salinity on therheology of polymer solution was studied. The proportions of elastic part and viscous part inthe polymer solution were calculated and the limit of mass concentration called highconcentration polymer solution was given. The influence of flowing distance on the rheologyof polymer solution in porous media was studied through long core seepage experiment. Theeffective viscosity of polymer solution in porous media was given and the influence ofseepage velocity, core permeability, mass concentration and molecular weight of polymersolution on the rheology of polymer solution in porous media was researched through shortcore seepage experiment. The results showed that: because of the adsorption and retentionbehavior of polymer flowing through the core, the concentration and viscosity of polymersolution decreased with the increase in seepage distance. With the increase in injection rate, when the adsorption and retention of polymer in the core was saturated, the rheology of thepolymer solution changed little with the increase in seepage distance. The effective viscosityof polymer solution in porous media decreased with the increase in flow velocity, and whenthe flow velocity increased to the critical rheological flow velocity, the effective viscosityincreased with the increase in flow velocity. With the increase in the mass concentration andrelative molecular weight of polymer solution and the core permeability, the effectiveviscosity of polymer solution in porous media increased. The flowing law of polymer solutionin porous media was simulated by three-dimensional network model, and the rheologicalcurve in the network model was given. The influence of network model permeability, massconcentration and molecular weight of polymer solution on the rheology of polymer solutionin network model was studied by changing the throat radius and the parameters of polymersolution.
