Along with the continuous development and utilization of mineral resources, the desert gobi area has become the focus of today’s mineral exploration activitieswith low degree of prospecting, difficult exploration but rich resource. Theinterference of eolian sand and covering is the biggest problem that sampling face inthe desert gobi area with the geochemical exploration method, how to avoid the abovetwo cases, to find covering mineral information accurately and to develop a highefficient and low-cost sampling scheme is the key of conducting geochemicalexploration in the desert gobi area. The deep penetrating geochemical method is agood way to solve this problem which is first proposed by academician Xie xuejin andE.M.Cameron and gradually developed into a strategic geochemical prospectingmethod. The electro-geochemistry method, the form method of organiccombination, the active state survey of metals and the metal ion method of active stateof them, through the practice test, have become mature and begin to be widespreadused in mineral exploration. Aerosol measurement is a deep penetrating geochemicalmethod which is based on the theory that the earth gas brings metallic element whenrising and used to measure the metal content in aerosol, but less used in practice. This paper mean to take Jinwozi gold deposit and Gongpoquan copper deposit inbeishan area of gansu province as an example, to use aerosol measurement in desertgobi area for deep mineral exploration and to validate its practical effect. Therecognition and the main achievements are as follows:(1) In Jinwozi gold mining area, we collected the soil sample along the northwestsection line across210ore body, and then captured the indoor aerosolsamples.Through analysis processing, the data can reflect the content distributiontrends of the elements Au, Ag and other elements, showing the existence of elementsabnormal, and can reflect the elements such as Au, Ag, Pb have a significantlypositive correlation, for abnormal associated elements, which is indicators of lookingfor precious metals deposits. (2) In Gongpoquan copper mining area, at the same time we collected soilsamples and aerosol samples along the section line across mining area, then capturedindoor aerosol samples and keeped the soil sample, through the contrast analysis,it wasfound that the element data analysis results of field aerosol samples, indoor aerosolsample and soil sample all can reflect the content distribution trends of Cu, Pb, Zn andother elements, showing the existence of elements abnormal, and can reflect that theelements of Cu, Pb, Zn, Mo and Ag are significantly positive correlative, forabnormal associated elements, which explain that the formation of copper deposits isconnected with the medium temperature, medium-high temperature hydrothermalmineralization. To sum up, the aerosol measuring method relative to other geochemicalprospecting methods, can capture the aerosol samples directly in the depth of thesurface, effectively avoiding the effects of the surface covering when sampling, andthe operation is simple, easy to master. So it can be widely used in the practical work, which can enrich the mineral exploration technique in the desert gobi area.
