The exploitation of coal mine resources has caused serious environmental problems to mining area, such as:atmosphere pollution, water pollution, land resource destruction and geological disasters. Therefore the contradiction between resource development and environmental protection has become increasingly prominent. So real-time monitoring and grasping environment of mining area in timely to recover governance is essential for the sustainable development of the coal industry.This paper selected Guqiao coal mine as the researching area and got information of environmental change of Guqiao coal mine since4years, taking use of remote sensing technique to monitor dynamically the mining area environment. This paper selected three periods of Landsat TM remote sensing images in2007,2009and2011as data sources. First of all, these remote sensing images were made processing, including geometric correction, radiation correction, optimal bands selection and image enhancement, in order to realize comparability between comparability of multi-temporal images and interpretation of target information.In order to make a qualitative and quantitative research for mining area environmental problems, the paper selected three factors of collapse watering, water pollution and vegetation destruction as the monitoring index. For information extracting of collapse watering and water pollution monitoring index, the paper found out the spectral relationship of the monitoring index uniquely from the spectral characteristics, making a comprehensive analysis of ground samples in mining area, so it can realize extraction of water-body and water pollution information. The subside seeper information of three periods was gained, after natural water-body was kicked. For extracting information of vegetation destruction monitoring index, the paper took use of NDVI to extract vegetation coverage.The monitoring results reflected the change of Guqiao mining area environment information:area of subside seeper expands rapidly, water pollution is more serious and vegetation coverage is bad from good. Practice has proved that coal mining caused that environment is continued to worsen and suggested that the use of remote sensing technique can get mining environmental information rapidly and accurately.
