Aiming at three-dimensional simulation, this paper proposes 3D entity model, which adopts the idea of object-oriented and associates and organizes entity object model and entity 3D model as a whole with some mechanism. Consequently the appearance and behavior of the entity can be reflected by the change of 3D model when the property, status changes.The definition of 3D entity model system is such a system that for each entity of simulation system a 3D entity model is built and organized by certain system structure. Meanwhile,The 3D entity model system makes important sense on the enhancement of reuse and the decrease of difficulty to developing simulation system. At the same time, it makes clear and detailed description of entities and their attributes, status, behavior, interactive interface and other content in the system, it is conducive to the model developers and users to understand the entity model and is helpful to improve the interoperability and reusability of 3D entity model.The contents of 3D entity model are rich, involving a wide range of specialty and direction, and its abstract modeling and description needs a number of fields collaborating with each other. On the basis of brief description of entity, this paper focuses on the 3D model of the entity and the relative technologies, including 3D modeling, editing, storage and management. Main content of each part is as follows:The 3D modeling and editing of the entity. This paper summarizes the current 3D modeling techniques and editing method, and establishes a corresponding model editor, which enables the function of editing content such as simplification of model and hierarchical structure re-organization.The storage of 3D model of entity. Considering the character of entity and its 3D model, the paper studies and has established a 3D entity model base and model base management system, which realizes effective storage and management of the 3D model of entity.The scene management of 3D entity model includes two aspects: one hand is the organization and management of 3D entity model in the scene, which is, according to the autonomous of entities'behavior, models can be divided into static and dynamic models and adopt quadtree and scene graph method as the scene organization way respectively; the other hand is the schedule of 3D entity model object class, namely, the realization of the simulation and interaction of entity in simulation applications on the basis of 3D entity model.
