In the context of modern society, the rise of online community has created a substantial impact on the individuals as well as the masses, which brings significant changes in our life and work. The online community is composed of numerous individuals, while the involvement of online activities of an individual in turn reflects the diversified individual demands. The major psychological motivation for the behavior is due to a strong sense of belonging, or more intrinsically the pursuit of a positive self-image. As a consequence of this, the Internet makes close cooperation and communication and a better self-image possible.By a combined research of extensive classic literature, questionnaires, individual interviews and case studies with the building of individual in the ecological networks as its focus in addition to some classical theories of semiotics as the explanatory framework , for example, Ferdinand de Saussure's theory of signifier and signified ,George Herbert Mead's symbolic interaction theory and Erring Coffman's" dramaturgical approach ", the article purports to explain the following two questions: what kind of interpersonal relationship one pursues and how one develops it as well as how one improves his self-image in the cyberspace by self-presentation.According to research, the overwhelming majority believe that the Internet is as important as the air and visual self in the cyberspace is the mirror of our real self. Online communication knows no restrictions of time or space so real-time contact can be made anytime and everywhere. In online communication, a deeper self-expression is primarily conveyed through nonverbal messages and the self-image is molded in the following four ways: First, showcasing a comprehensive change of an individual in a long period of time through a time-sequence record in order to maintain a complete sense of self. In the development of self-image , an expressive, personality-defining design tells one individual apart from thousands of others ;Secondly, how one develops the self-image and what he intends to convey is a conscious and selective performance in the process; Thirdly, through a complete self-expression , one cannot only develops his own distinctive image but also benefit from others'feedback and therefore adjust and perfect toward an idealized self-image; four, a mutual recognition arises in the interaction and communication with others.Based on the research abovementioned, we can come to the conclusion that the individual self-image is developing more genuinely, comprehensively and indepthly.
