Mbus Bus-based Remote Meter Reading System Research And Development

The progress of science and technology supports the development of remote meter reading system. Improvement of living level and high efficient management system for meters make the requirement for remote meter reading system. This paper designed a remote meter reading system based on MBUS(Meter Bus) and GPRS technology, according to the requirement for customer and the shortcomings of current remote meter reading system.Remote meter reading system designed by this paper is made up of remote management center, GPRS data transport terminal, concentrator, collector, gas meter. Remote management center communicates with data transport terminal by GPRS, data transport terminal communicates with concentrator by serial port, concentrator communicates with collector by MBUS, and each collector connects a gas meter.In this system, developed parameter setting software for data transport terminal and remote reading software by VB6.0, designed GPRS data transport terminal based on G24 modular and MSP430F149 single chip microcomputer and developed the embedded program for data transport, designed concentrator and collector based on MBUS technology and MSP430F149 single chip microcomputer and developed MBUS communication protocol. The parameter setting software for data transport terminal and remote meter reading software are installed on remote management center., the former is use to set parameter for data transport terminal, the latter is used to read meter remotely. Data transport terminal is used to transport data between remote management center and concentrator. Concentrator manages gas meters by MBUS protocol. Collector is used to collect the gas volume.The result indicates that remote meter reading system measures gas meter correctly and reads gas meter remotely, meets the actual demand.
