By the support of the National Science Foundation (NO.60801004) and Zhejiang Province Science Foundation (NO.2010C31069), a 60GHz millimeter wave power combiner based on "TE011-λ/4 resonating system" is proposed in this paper. The "TE011-λ/4 resonating system" is composed of a TE011 circular resonator and severalλ/4 resonators. The combiner could output large power through the "TE011-λ/4 resonating system" when active circuits are connected. The main content of this paper are:1. Various of resonators and their working principle; 2. The improvement of theλ/4 resonator; 3. The method of simulating for both active and passive circuits; 4. A 60GHz millimeter wave power combiner based on "TE011-λ/4 resonating system"; 5. A network structure of this power combiner. The main contribution and innovations are:1. An innovative power combiner system is proposed which has high Q, low loss, compatibility with wafer level package (WLP) technology and good expansibility; 2. Improved of the conventionalλ/4 resonator; 3. A method based on S parameter of simulating for both active and passive circuits. The first part of this paper proposes the construction of the system and the working principle including research of the standing wave resonator, negative resistance circuit and the method for system simulation. The second part of this paper then focus on the system designing and simulation of the 60GHz millimeter wave power combiner, simulation results show that the system working at 60.48GHz, with return loss of-18.477 dB and transmission coefficient of -6.662dB; the efficiency of the combiner is about 87.1%, the Q factor is 11144, and the system has a well performance and linearity. A network structure based on the technical of silicon integration waveguide (SIW) is proposed in order to obtain larger power.
