The Research About The News Reports Of The Consecutive Suicides In The Foxconn Company In The Sight Of Media Ethics

In the first half year of 2010,thirteen consecutive suicides happened in the plant of the foxconn company in Shenzhen, which made 10 people lose their lives and 3 people get hurt. All of them chose jumping to end their lives expect 2 persons. The foxconn company is always concerned for it's large-scale and the high yield. However the company got the people's attention once again from the consecutive suicides since January 2010. The consecutive suicides has aroused general concern, also becomes to be the focus of media. Since the first suicide, the media has kept reporting on it,which caused the audiences'attention and discussion within a certain range. To achieve the purpose of the study, researchers select some objects as samples from the Southern Metropolis Daily (Shenzhen Reading), Sina, Southern Weekend and CCTV. Take some reports in these four medias as a research text ,which is about the consecutive suicides in the foxconn company, and do some collations and summarizations on these. Through analyzing the content of the reports, it can be found that there are some problems and shortcomings in them. This paper is made for the purpose to explore such unexpected incidents about media ethics in the reports and to discuss the ethical guidelines which should be obeyed during the reporting activities.
