With the development of information technology and continuous progress of computer technology, the keeping enhancing of people's living standard and cultural level, modern television and movie cartoon technology have achieved significant progress. By using computer technology, morphing cartoon technology has got its full development and as the academic basis of morphing cartoon, research on morphing technology becomes very important. The ideal morphing method could make the morphing cartoon effect becomes much more fluent and natural while bad method could make the morphing cartoon becomes twist and deformed, effect distorted which make people unacceptable. As for this, the dissertation gives a summary for traditional morphing cartoon theory firstly, gives detailed traditional method for morphing technology. It emphasizes on two basis problems of morphing technology:the corresponding problem and interpolation route problem and in this dissertation gives representative method. Secondly, to aim at the easy emerge problems during the morphing process and the existed method and theory emerged problems, the dissertation gives the real examples and improvement. Especially, for the morphing process, the polygon orientation problem, the dissertation gives a way to determine the orientation of polygon which by convex hull method and using this way in real morphing program which makes better effect for computer automatically to search corresponding points.By above methods, the dissertation using vague mathematical technique to create polygon corresponding function and then it takes dynamic programming technique to find suitable corresponding. Under this basis, it takes triangle decomposition technique, by interpolation side and angle to gain morphing intermediate shapes. During the process, the dissertation gives the solving method for some point deviation which achieves ideal morphing effects. But for the bad compatible topological polygon, if it takes interpolation side and angle technique, then it difficult to avoid some unnatural phenomenon, such as self intersection, twist and overlapping. In order to solve the problem, it needs to take compatible triangulation and using more effective technique of convex combination interpolation.The compatible triangulation arithmetic and its interpolate route problem is a kind of special method in researching on morphing. This arithmetic is complex, hard to accomplish but it has better morphing effect which could completely solve the morphing problem of self-intersect. This dissertation emphasizes on compatible triangulation theory, gives classical compatible triangulation method, makes certain improve of interpolate route, to realize the method by computer programs, which takes better morphing effect and this gives the programmer theory support and real program approach for shape morphing.
