With the development of network and computer application technology, scientists and engineering researchers are building more and more data-intensive and compute-intensive applications to manage and manipulate large data sets. These data sets are related to compute resources distributed in different regions and organizations. The same time, many scientific experiments need multidisciplinary and multi-organization researchers to collaborate to complete research objectives. In this scenario, it is an urgent need to provide an efficient collaboration tool to help them to be efficient process these large data. Scientific workflow technology which is an effective technical solution well adapted to the demand is the workflow technology applied to the field of science. Therefore, many organizations have done a lot of works to promote the development of workflow technology and workflow management system to meet the needs of accessing and management of distributed resources. In the field of astronomy, scientists applied a lot of high-tech equipment, resulting in lots of scientific data. Scientists have to deal with these massive data, so they have to employ the technology of HPC. But for some astronomical scientists, these technologies are unfamiliar to them, so it is necessary for more experts to work together. Scientific workflow management system which is a computer technology allows scientists concern about the problems in their field. This paper designed and implemented a prototype of scientific workflow management system (called Nebulas). The system includes a simple and intuitive XML-based workflow description language:Scientific Process Description Language (SPDL), en engine to interpret the language and a graphical interface for researchers managing SPDL. Currently, nebulas can use local services and remote Web Services which conformed to the W3C standard to orchestrate a workflow, run and steer a workflow, and then show final results.
