The research of three-dimensional shape recovery is an important branch of optical measurement. There are prospective applications in the research of antiques and relics, field evidence collection, virtual reality, medical diagnostics, industrial inspection, product quality control and other areas. Facing the requirements of high-precision, high-efficiency and low-cost on detection of small size objects and subtle characteristics, the current methods can not either meet the requirements or are too expensive, so that most people can not accept them. Therefore, we develop a low-cost, high-efficiency and simple 3D measurement system for small size objects and subtle characteristics. furthermore, it can cambine with the structured light 3D measurement system. it has a pratical value.Our 3D measurement system is used to obtain the shape of small objects and subtle characteristics primarily, we focus on its precision, efficiency and convenience. In this paper, firstly, we analyse some popular optical 3D measurement techniques, then we respectively study on photometric stereo technique of passive measurement and structured light 3D measurement system of active measurement, and achieve the 3D shape of detailed features successfully.In this paper, we studied the principle of photometric stero algorithm systematicly, and designed the photometric stereo measurement equipment. Firstly, a reasonable reflection model that corresponds to the material of the object was chosen. Next, the orientations are calculated for the parts of the surface that are visible and directly illuminated. Finally, these orientations are used to determine the shape of the surface as depth coordinates. We can obtain the 3D shape of detailed features in this method successfully.In this paper, we studied the principle of structured light 3D measurement systematicly, and optimize the structured light 3D measurement equipment. Through relevant experiments and analysis, we found the method to get the 3D shape of detailed featrues. Then we used some cases to demonstrate the practicability of our 3D measurement system. By analysing the advantages and dis advantages of photometric stereo and structured light 3D measurement technique, in order to optimize the 3D data, we present a method that combine photometric stereo and structured light 3D measurement technique, it is able to achieve both high-precision and more details.
