Research On The Spreading Pattern Of Emergency Information In Internet

Recent years, there are an increasing number of emergencies worldwide, which led to not only causalities and economic loss, but also social impacts. Emergency information spreading in Internet has played an important role in informing citizns and emergency management. Despite recent advances in exploreing emergency management problem, an understanding of emergency information spreading patterns in Internet by quantitive view still be required. We investigated the problem, which is helpful to understanding the principles of emergency Internet information spreading. Here our research includes three parts: research on process of emergency Internet information; research on the spreading patterns of emergency information in news websites and online forum; research on the spreading patterns of emergency information in new social media.The results show that comparing with non-emergencies, the"jump-decay"pattern is observed for emergencies. We find the mainstream Internet media has comprehensive sources of news, the commercial portal sites are partly depend on the official Internet media; there are a few key topics and key users, which play an important in information spreading. Higher scale-free attitude, mean degree, desire of informing and spreading, degree of initial spreading nodes is beneficial to information spreading. The research offers a quantitative view of understanding emergency information spreading, which can support the resolution of emergency management under Internet environment.
