With the presentation of the idea of "digital Earth", the three-dimensional terrain visualization technology, as an innovative and high technology which can be used to directly and truly reveal the terrain feature and 3D information, and it is showing its strong vitality and wide application space. This thesis introduce the basic theory of the three-dimensional terrain visualization, the establishment of digital terrain model, Delaunay triangle mesh subdivision algorithm, and the principle and the related techniques of OpenGL.While the core of the three-dimensional terrain visualization technology is the building of three-dimensional physical model, therefore this thesis based on the study of the three-dimensional terrain modeling and subdivision algorithm of the finite element mesh, presented an improved Delaunay triangle mesh generating algorithm, under the system environment of Windows XP, applying the programming plat of Visual C++6.0, combining the excellent open graph application programming interface, it has developed a triangle dissection algorithm based on generating algorithm, and make the algorithm realize the three-dimensional terrain visualization system.This thesis realized the reading of data, use the realized Delaunay triangle mesh subdivision algorithm modeling to form a triangle mesh based on the generating algorithm, then show the three-dimensional terrain modeling. Use the related functions of OpenGL to conduct screen perspective projection and texture mapping, realize the functions of texture mapping, output of three-dimensional graph, roam, rotation and scaling.
