Recently security prevention systems like video monitoring system have been widely applied to many fields. Because of the immobile camera, traditional video monitoring system can only keep watch on fixed area after being installed, which may result in areas that can not be covered. Furthermore, the surveillant needs to watch multiple screens which are transferred by multiple cameras, which is probable to miss important information. Therefore, how to provide efficient technology has become an important problem in video monitoring field.Aiming at solving the above issues, this thesis proposes an approach to self-adaptive, flexible and intelligent monitoring robot guard system, which is based on software agent technology and software robot technology. The main contributions of the thesis are described as follows.1. Introduces the state-of-the-art of the research and application of video monitoring system, analyses the issues in existing system, and investigates the reasons causing the issues.2. Based on the demands in army, proposes a self-adaptive, flexible and intelligent monitoring robot guard system.3. Gives the modeling and analysis of the robot guard system, and defines the organization scene of the system, roles exchange model, role behavior model and role transition model based on the agent-oriented methodology ODAM.4. In order to verify the effectiveness, designs and implements the robot guard system, and develops an software prototype for it based on agent-oriented software platform SADE.
