Optical fiber as a medium to transmission date, it greatly promoted the development of optical fiber communication technology. Even since human get into society of information. The capacity of transmission date is to become the basic for develop of optical fiber communication. Therefore, the small size of EDFA received widespread attention.This paper introduce develop of rare earth doped materials as gain medium for fiber amplifier and laser. Phosphate glass as host materials to dissolution Er3+/Yb3+ions was chosen. Detailed elaborated in the ways of structure, spectroscopy properties, laser theory and the effect of co-doped about Er3+,Yb+ions. Established Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped phosphate glass fiber salt rate equation of theory, and to simplify the analysis. This paper describes the matrix of physical and chemical properties about phosphate glass, too. According to, the requirements of design formulation, the requirements of glass properties and the role of oxides in glass, designed and defined the phosphate glass matrix formulation. The materials of phosphate glass optical fiber doped with different of concentration Er3+ ions and different proportion about Er3+/Yb3+ions was prepared. Tested the properties of physical and spectroscopy for have prepared glass materials. According to spectroscopy properties of test result, use the theory of McCumber and Origin Lab software to calculateσabs,Σσabs, A,τrad,σemit and other properties parameters. Through analysis, in the phosphate glass simples with best general properties is doped of Er3+ concentration in 9.13×1020ion·cm-3, Yb3+concentration 3.652×1020ion·cm-3, the ratio of Er3+/Yb3+ is 1:4.According the properties parameters of doped phosphate glass optical fiber material and the condition of single-mode optical fiber transmission, designed a double-clad fiber. Use Optiwave software to simulate the gain performance of designed fiber.Through analysis of simulation in wavelength of 1533nm, obtained gain is 3.835dB/cm.
