Broadband was one of primary developing trends in communication network. With the implementation and development of integrated service strategy in telecom carriers, the optical cable network has been becoming the key of fundemental physical network infrastructure. Therefore, it is widely accepted as top priority to design and build an optical cable network which has advanced technology, high capacity, easily adapted to integrated service and high investment income ratio, etc. Traditional optimized methods for optical cable networks mainly come from the collective practical experience which is lacked of theory support. In consideration of theoretical analysis and actual project in Wuxi telecom, this thesis provided AHP based optical cable optimization strategy and its application in optical cable planning and optimization.Firstly, this thesis presented a brief introdcution of the current development status both of communication network and optical cable network, network planning contents and significances, respectively. Then the general principles and rules of optical cable network planning are presented along with the introduction of major planning methods and tools. This thesis researched optical cable network planning strategy and provided the localization scheme of coummunication bureau and selecyin of optical fibers. The Analytical Hierarchy Process method fot optical cable network planning strategy is proposed and realized by Java program language. Optimal planning results are obtained. Finnaly, this thesis analyzed the current situation and service requiremensts of Wuxi Telecom and privided the optical cable network planning method , especially the specific network planning strategy and optimization scheme for Jiangyin city.
