Workflow modeling method is the essential part in workflow research. It is not only the foundation of the workflow management system and the form of the business with computerized course expresses, but also the foundation of the workflow theory and practical application. Design of workflow is a complicated time-consuming process, and there are always some discrepancies between the actual workflow and the model we created. In order to support the more accurate process modeling, the process mining method based on event logs has been presented, which mines the event logs record in the process of existing business flow to support the workflow modeling.According to the principle of workflow management and related development technology, a new lightweight workflow engine, which based on Petri nets, is designed and realized. Towards the deficiency of alpha algorithm, a new process mining algorithm based on logs is brought up, which can make application for the implicit task and short cycle task. The key contributions of the thesis are as follows:1. Based on basic concepts of workflow and model features, combined with the Swing, XML, JGraph open source technology, we design and implement the process definition tool.2. Based on Petri Nets, we put forward the new workflow engine debugging algorithm, design and realize a lightweight workflow engine.3. The proposed Alpha_C1 algorithm and Alpha_C2 algorithm is able to successfully mine short cycle task and the implicit task from event logs. The algorithms mentioned above are implemented as mining plug-ins of the framework for process mining named ProM 6.
