Wittgenstein's Critique To The Aesthetics Of Essentialism

Wittgenstein is one of the most greatest philosophers and eastheticians. Since the coming out of the Tractatus, he was payed great attention by philosophers. Furthermore, there has been a upsurge of research of Wittgenstein for recent thirty yeas in the world. Though the research about Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions have been advanced in China and other country, it is still worthy of our research. Because Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions is original and abundant.Based on the other's research about Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions, I attempt to summarized and deepened it systemically. Confined to the limited command of the information about Wittgenstein, I find that other researchers have discovered and expounded the character of the anti-essentialism about Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions. But there is still lack of the specialized papers to expound it. Based on the others'research to the Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions and according to my command of the information, I want to study the character of the anti-essentialism of the Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions. Combined with the theory about temporality and intentionality from phenomenology, I want to expound it systemically and study it deeply.Furthermore, I expect my research can be a brick to the edifice of the research of the Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions.The thesis is composed of four parts:First, the aesthetic notions of Wittgenstein. In this part, I account for the situation of research to the aesthetic notions of Wittgenstein in the domestic in recent thirty yeas and my reflection to the situation of the research. Through the command of the situation, I intend to find out the advance and the deficiency of the research of the Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions.Second,essentialism of aesthetics. In this part, I account for the representation and the shortage of the traditional essentialism of aesthetics.I think that the critique to the traditional essentialism of aesthetics is reasonable and justifiable.Third,the critique of pre-Wittgenstein to the essentialism of aesthetics. In this part, I intend to expound how Wittgenstein criticized the traditional essentialism of aesthetics. By right of the demarcation, Pre-Wittgenstein pointed out that the world was composed of speakable part and unspeakable part.And he suggested that aesthetics and philosophy and so on should be belonged to the unspeakable part. So he emphasized that we must keep silence in unspeakable part. To him,the questioning and definition of the essence of beauty was a wrong behavior. According to his picture theory, he thought that essence of beauty had no counterpoint in realistic world. So the propositions about the essence of beauty are meaningless. And the question about essence of beauty is meaningless too. To some extent, Wittgenstein's critique to the traditional essentialism of aesthetics have come out.Fourth, the critique of post-Wittgenstein to the essentialism of aesthetics. In this part, I intend to expound how Wittgenstein criticized the traditional essentialism of aesthetics. Post-Wittgenstein criticized his past aesthetic notions. Not only the essence of beauty can not be spoke, but also it exist. This notion means that Wittgenstein criticized the essentialism of aesthetics thoroughly. Beauty has no definite essence except for family resemblance. Different occasions determined that beauty has different sense. Radically, beauty is determined by the form of life. The human's appreciations to the beautiful things is a intentional process. Also, it is personal and has temporality. Therefore, I consider that Wittgenstein have given a thorough critique to the traditional essentialism of aesthetics.In a word, Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions about the critique to the traditional essentialism of aesthetics is very important. So,I attempt to expound it from new angle. Also I expect that I can fill up deficiency and blankness in studies of the Wittgenstein's aesthetic notions.
