Objective: To investigate the relationship between intracranial atherosclerotic stenosisand genetics polymorphisms of rs1800787and rs1800790which are located in promoterarea in FGB gene.Method: The research was a case-control study. Patients in Department of Neurology ofNO.2People's Hospital of Lianyungang were enrolled consistently from December,2010to February,2012. Basic characteristics, history and laboratory data including levelof plasma fibrinogen were recorded. And we used Taqman real-time polymerase chainreaction(PCR) for genotyping. Patients enrolled were grouped into4groups,symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis(IAS) group (SIAS), ischemic strokecaused by small vessel disease group(SVD), asymptomatic IAS group(aSIAS) andhealth control(HC).Results:1.A total of164patients were enrolled,81for SIAS group,43for SVDgroup,15for aSIAS group and25for HC.2.As for classical stroke risk factors, level ofCRP was in relation to IAS independently(P=0.012), while other risk factors includingplasma Fbg were not significantly correlated to IAS (P>0.05).3. T allele frequency ofrs1800787was0.18and so was A allele of rs1800790. There were no significantdifferences between groups in distribution of genotypes and alleles of rs1800787andrs1800790.4. There was no significant difference between genotypes of rs1800787andrs1800790in level of plasma Fbg.5. No significant relations were found between IASand alleles of rs1800787and rs1800790.Conclusion: We did not find significant correlations between rs1800787,rs1800790genetics polymorphisms and IAS as well as level of plasma Fbg. Elevated level of CRPwas independently related to IAS.
