Objective To evaluate the clinical value of three-dimensional color Doppler flow imaging(3D-CDFI)in classifying the vascular characteristics of renal cell carcinoma. Methods 71 cases of renal cell carcinoma patient were selected in our hospital between March 2006 and May 2010.3D-CDFI was used to analyze the interior and peripheral vascular characteristics of the tumors confirmed by surgery and pathology. Results The accuracy rate of ultrasonographic diagnosis was 95.8%(68/71). The vascular characteristics of renal cell carcinoma in 68 patients could be divided into 6 types, according to the different tape, shape and amount of the vessels. Typeâ… , a few blood vessels(7 cases); Typeâ…¡, poor blood vessels(8 cases); Typeâ…¢, semicircular blood vessels(11 cases); Typeâ…£, circularity blood vessels(4 cases); Typeâ…¤, rich blood vessels(26 cases); Typeâ…¥, plentiful blood vessels(12 cases). Vessel patterns of 3D-CDFI were more different between stageâ… ,â…¡and stageâ…¢,â…£(P< 0.01) by comparison of the different stage of renal cell carcinoma, the color Doppler signals of stageâ…¢,â…£were more abundant than stageâ… ,â…¡, and the color Doppler signals of stageâ…¢,â…£were more evident in tapeâ…¤and tapeâ…¥.Conclusions 3D-CDFI can intuitively and completely show vascular distribution and spatial structure of different pathological types of renal cell carcinoma because of its fair sensitivity, also can show the amount and distribution of blood vessel in different stages of renal cell carcinoma.3D-CDFI can provide a reliable evidence for staging renal cell carcinoma and play an important role in clinical diagnosis.
