Responsible for patient's health and life makes doctor a special profession. Doctors are required to obtain good professional quality and high level of professional competence. The development of professional ability is rooted in all aspects relating to occupation education and development in school, namely, professional socialization process. Medical students'professional socialization is a process in which they are working on mastering professional knowledge and skills by classroom learning and clinical internship, gradually form professional awareness and try to adapt to professional environment. Its aim is getting undergraduates prepared for obtaining qualification in the future. The level of professional socialization of medical students can directly affect their performance in future position, namely, whether they can make contributions and show their self-value. Clinical internship also has significant influence on professional socialization. In this study, both theoretical and empirical methods are used to prove the positive impact of clinical internship on students'professional socialization.Theoretically, the difference between clinical internship and teaching is discussed and the positive impact of clinical internship is proved: students can develop their professional skills by case study and enhancing professional knowledge; self-operation can enhance their professional skills; on-site communication strengthen doctor-patient relationship; and professional awareness can be developed by a sense of achievement gained by eliminating the disease, or by a sense of guilt after treatment failure.Empirically, conclusions are made based on questionnaires and interviews: medical students'current level of professional knowledge is medium; they are lack of operational skills; communication skill (doctor-patient) is relatively strong while professional awareness is not well developed; for medical students, clinical internship has a positive impact on professional knowledge and skills, but not communication skills and professional awareness. Lastly, in order to meet the requirements of professional socialization of medical students, we come up with some suggestions based on the current problems: controlling enrollment and expanding clinical internship platform, promoting standardization of internship management and integrating career education into clinical internship.
