| Objective:This study investigated the feasibility of simultaneous implant placements after conducting maxillary sinus floor lift procedures for maxillary implants, with a height of less than 5 mm of the residual bone.Materials and Methods:The study subjects involved five male and five female patients between the ages of 21 and 64 between June and October 2008. Each subject possessed a residual bone height of less than 5 mm. Following the maxillary sinus lift and bone augmentation procedure,16 XiVE implants were installed, each 9.5 mm long and 3.8 to 5.5 mm in diameter. The healing period ranged from 8 to 10 months, and the patients were observed for 1.5 years. Prosthetic restoration was conducted using single crowns or fixed bridges. Results:Minimum elevation of the maxillary sinus floor was 6 mm, and maximum elevation was 8.5 mm. With the exception of one implant successfully replaced after being lost due to an infection after six months, all the implants were successfully installed with no infections, loosening or falling out, and no significant bone resorption occurred during the observation period. Conclusion:With the appropriate indications, implant system, and surgical procedures, patients with less than 5 mm of residual bone height in the maxillary sinus are able to receive simultaneous implant placements combined with sinus lift operation. |
