| Objective To evaluate the clinical value of RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). And to compare the safety and efficacy of RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser vaporesection with TURP in treating BPH. Methods A total of 240 patients of benign prostatic hyperplasia were divided into two groups, each group had 120 patients .one group was treated with TURP ,and another group was treated with the RevoLix 2 micron continuous-wave laser . There was no statistically difference among TURP group and RevoLix 2 micron continuous-wave laser vaporesection group in patients'clinical conditions .We compared and analysed two groups in operation time, volume of blood, urinary bladder flush time, catheter staying time, international prostate symptom score(I-PSS),quality of life(QOL) and maximum flow rate(Qmax),etc .Results The RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser vaporesection was successfully performed on all the 120 patients with BPH. The average operation time was 52±7.8 minutes (range:20~110 minutes), The volume of blood was 30 millilitre (range: 10~50 millilitre),urinary bladder flush time was 5 hours (range:2~12 hours),catheter staying time was 3.0±1.0 days (range:2~5 days). No the second hemorrhage . The I-PSS and QOL had the distinc improvement, Qmax significantly improved from 6.2±3.1 mL/s to19.6±1.6ml/s, No urinary incontinence occurred. The TURP was successfully performed on 118 of all the 120 patients with BPH. The average operation time was41±9.4 minutes (range:25~100 minutes), The volume of blood was 80±20 millilitre (range:40~1000 millilitre),urinary bladder flush time was 16±4.0 hours (range: 12~28 hours),catheter staying time was 7.0±1.2 days (range:5~12 days), 8 patients occurred the second hemorrhage , 2 patients had to operated for surgical hemostasis and other 6 patients conservative treatment, which required blood transfusion 400~1200ml. Their I-PSS and QOL have the distinct improvement too, Qmax improved from 5.2±2.8 mL/s to18.2±2.6 ml/s, Two urinary incontinence occurred. Conclusion RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser vaporesection of prostate was an excellent treatment method for BPH. There was significant difference between two groups on volume of blood, catheter staying time and urinary bladder flush time (P<0.05), RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser vaporesection was better than TURP. I-PSS and QOL have no significance difference (P>0.05). Because the clinical application of the big-power RevoLix 2 micron continuous wave laser to vaporesect prostate was not long time , the efficiency did not bring into full play. With the improvement of operation skill and experience, it can yield rapid, safe and effective relief for these patients, maybe it will become a new"gold standard"for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. longer follow-up is needed to prove the durability of these promising method。... |
