Objective To investigate the effects of magnetic stimulation on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax , residual urine volume and hindlimb motor function after spinal cord injury in rats .Methods 44 SD female rats were randomized into three groups : magnetic stimulation treatment group (n=20) , control group (n=20) and sham operation group (n=4) . Moreover , magnetic stimulation treatment group was divided into five time points , the 8th hour , 12th hour , 24th hour , 7th day and 14th day after spinal cord injury respectively , at each time point four rats , as well as control group . Sham operation group only had the 24th hour time point . Magnetic stimulation treatment group and control group adopted improved dynamic load contusion method to cause spinal cord injury model . Magnetic stimulation treatment group received magnetic stimulation at the 15th minute , 1th hour , 2nd hour , 4th hour and 6th hour after spinal cord injury respectively , however , control group didn't received magnetic stimulation . Neither had sham operation group spinal cord injury , nor received magnetic stimulation . All rats sacrificed at the corresponding time points , thereinto , the 24th hour , 7th day and 14th day various subgroups required record of residual urine volume and hindlimb motor function . Protein content of Bcl - 2 and Bax was detected by immunohistochemical method .Results Comparision of Bcl-2,Bax,residual urine volume and hindlimb motor function these 4 indicators between sham operation group and the 24th hour subgroup of control group demonstrated that differences were statistically significant (P< 0. 05) . Comparision of Bcl-2, Bax at the 8th hour , 12th hour , 24th hour , residual urine volume at 14th day and BBB score at the 7th day ,14th day demonstrated that differences were statistically significant (P < 0. 05) .Conclusion Spinal cord injury was the reason of significant change of Bcl-2, Bax , residual urine volume and hindlimb motor function , other than the elimination of vertebral lamina . At the early stage of spinal cord injury , several magnetic stimulation treatment could reduce secondary spinal cord injury neural apoptosis through the protein content change of Bcl-2 and Bax , have the effect of protecting the residual neural cell which also effected on bladder function and hindlimb motor function .
