People's daily life and work is seriously affectd by the pain and movement disorder of shoulder. But it is difficult to make an intensive study of shoulder because of its complex structure and various motion. It is important for clinical treatment to assess shoulder disease correctly and objectively, as well as analyzing the curative effect of different therapy. This study aimed to explore the methods of analyzing shoulder function, and patient with periarthritis of shoulder was taken as research object. Shoulder's motion and related muscles'status were studied by using three-dimensional kinematics and EMG respectively. This study could be useful as background information for shoulder physiological and clinical research.Five Subjects were provided by Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine orthopedic clinic. During the Chinese medicine manipulation treatment, subjects'shoulder kinematics data and EMG signals were collected in five different days. Then changes of shoulder motion characteristics and muscles status in the rehabilitation could be known. In this study, the kinematics data of shoulder was collected respectively in sagittal, coronal and horizontal plane by using three-dimensional motion capture system. The changes of shoulder activity in rehabilitation were statistically analyzed. Simultaneously, the EMG signal of pectoralis major, biceps, deltoid, infraspinatus muscle, latissimus dorsi, trapezius, triceps were recorded. Some useful parameters were abstracted from EMG after pretreatment. The impact of activity on parameter was studied. To verify the recovery level of the affected side, as well to reduce individual difference, parameters were normalized under the condition of affected/health in the same subject. In addition to time domain and frequency domain, entropy was used in this thesis as EMG's parameter, for the energy of EMG distribute unevenly in frequency. Bands entropy and wavelet packet entropy were both taken into use, and reflected the recovery of affected muscles differently. Moreover, complexity was adopted as non-linear parameter, and reflected muscles'change in rehabilitation. The results showed that, with the increasing of treatment time, the range of motion (ROM) of affected shoulder increased, and related shoulder muscles could raise more discharge unit and resist fatigue effectively, becoming close to the health shoulder. The time-domain characteristics RMS could tell the changes in EMG energy, and wavelet packet entropy could reflect the recovery level of the affected side compared to the healthy shoulder, the nonlinear parameters complexity was more sensitive to muscles'fatigue. In addition, the parameters of latissimus dorsi and infraspinatus'EMG changed smaller compared to other muscles, indicating that frozen affect these two muscles weakly. The conclusion could be helpful to observe patients'illness and assess curative effect, and to make specific treatment pertinently.
