Partl Primary comparison on diagnostic value of entire strain ratio method and localized strain ratio method of real-time sonoelastography for differentiating breast solid lesionsObjectivesTo compare the diagnostic performance of entire strain ratio method and localized strain ratio method of real-time elasticity imaging for differentiating breast malignant and benign solid lesions.MethodsOne hundred and thirteen patients with 145 breast lesions (85 benign,60 malignant) were examined with the two strain ratio methods respectively.According to pathologic diagnosis, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to explore the optimized cut-off points of them respectively and compare their diagnostic values. Results:For entire strain ratio study, ROC curves revealed an area under the curve of 0.902, the optimized cut-off point of 3.16, and the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy were 88.24%,88.33%,88.27%respectively. Those of localized strain ratio study were 0.968,31.15,94.11%,96.67%,95.17%respectively. The diagnostic performance and accuracy of localized strain ratio method were better than those of entire strain ratio method (P<0.05).ConclusionsBoth strain ratio methods were valid fordifferentiating breast solid lesions. Localized strain ratio method is superior to entire strain ratio method.Part 2 Micro-pure imaging system of ultrasonography and Mammography demonstration on microcalcifications of breast tumorsObjectivesTo evaluate the demonstration value on microcalcifications of micro-pure imaging system of ultrasonography and mammography.MethodsAt the same time 90 patients were examined with both micro-pure imaging system of ultrasonography and mammography before minimally invasive surgery, all nodules had the pathological results. The cases with microcifications and the cluster microcalcifications without nodules examined with both the two methods were calculated respectively. Chi-square Test is applied for evaluating the statistical significance between them. Results:Nodules with microcalcifications on Mammography were 55 cases (benign 15, malignant 40).The cluster microcalcifications not in nodules were 6 cases all proved to be malignant. Nodules with Microcalcifications on micro-pure imaging system were 97 cases (benign 33 cases, malignant nodules 64). The cluster microcalcification not in nodules were 2cases, both proved to be malignant. There were 22 benign nodules and 14 malignant nodules with microcalcifications on micro-pure imaging system but without microcalcifications on mammography. The demonstration ratio on microcalcifications of micro-pure imaging system was significant higher than mammography's, and there was statistical significance between them (P<0.05).ConclusionsMicro-pure imaging system of uotrasonography improve the demonstration rate on microcalcifications of breast tumors significantly. At the same time it increased the diagnosis rate of breast tumor. It is a convenient and valid technology on demonstration calcifications of breast.
