| Objective:To investigate the clinical significance and expression of topoisomerase(Topo II)and glutathione-s-trannsferase(GST-Ï€) in gastric cancer and colorectal carcinoma.Methods:The expression of TopoIIand GST-Ï€in 40 cases of gastric cancer and 60 cases of colorectal carcinoma was detected by immunohistochemical technique. its correlation with clinical pathologic characteristic of gastric cancer and colorectal carcinoma, including histological type, invasion degree and lymph node metastasis was explored as well.Results:(1) Of 40 cases of gastric cancer, the positive expression rates of Topo Hand GST-Ï€were 42.5% and 82.5, respectively, The expression rate of Topoâ…¡in well- moderated differentiation adenocarcinoma was lower than that in poor differentiation adenocarcinoma(P<0.01), The expression rates of GST-Ï€in well-moderated differentiation adenocarcinoma were significantly higher than those in poor differentiation adenocareinoma(P<0.01), but not'with other pathological characteristics studie. (2) The positive rates of Topo Hand GST-Ï€in colorectal carcinoma tissue were 43.3% and 93.3%, respectively, There were no corelation between overexpression of Topoâ…¡and GST-Ï€and pathological characteristics studied in colorectal carcinoma.Conclusion:Topoâ…¡and GST-Ï€play important roles in the primary MDR of gastric cancer and colorectal carcinoma. The determination of Topoâ…¡and GST-Ï€may be useful for the estimatation of prognosis and the establishment of chemical therapy regimen in gastric cancer and coloctal carcinoma. |
