| Objective: Two treatments were selected in this study—herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel and needling Sanyinjiao(SP6) to cure the patients with primary dysmenorrhea, in order to observe the influence on reproductive endocrine level of the two groups and try to explain the reproductive endocrine regulating mechanism of the therapy of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel to cure primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: 44 patients with primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into two groups, 22 cases in the group of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel; 22 cases in the group of needling Sanyinjiao(SP6).Then we observed the severity changes of abdominal pain, Estradiol, Progesterone and Prostaglandin levels before and after four menstrual cycles intervention treatment, and compared the differences between the two groups.Result: Both the group of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel and the group of needling Sanyinjiao(SP6) alleviated the severity of abdominal pain, the differences between prior-treatment and post-treatment were significant(P<0.01). But the long-term effects of the group of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel were better than the group of needling Sanyinjiao(SP6). Both the two groups could decrease the levels of Estradiol and Prostaglandin, increase the level of Progesterone. The group of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel was better than the group of needling Sanyinjiao(SP6) in regulating the Progesterone level, but the group of needling Sanyinjiao(SP6) was better than the group of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel to regulate the Estradiol level. Conclusion: The effects of the therapy of herbs-separated moxibustion at the navel to cure primary dysmenorrhea are notable, having long-term effects, its mechanism is to regulate the reproductive endocrine level to cure primary dysmenorrhea through modulating hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. |
