Objective:To create a personalized three-dimensional (3D) digitalized virtual surgery platform for hallux valgus osteotomy, aimed to provide the preoperative planning and intraoperative orientation for osteotomy. Methods:This study was based upon computerized tomographic scans of 10 patients (16 feet) who hospitalized because of a "hallux valgus deformity". A 3D digital model of the foot was established based on CT data of these patients, Using Mimics software. Virtual V-shaped osteotomy was then performed. Measuring the length of the first metatarsal and the width of distal first metatarsal neck. In addition, the hallux valgus angle (HVA), the Inter-metatarsal angle (IMA) were measured before and after the virtual surgery, and being statistical analyze.Results:3D digital models of the foot were successfully reconstructed with CT scanning and software management. The parameters of the virtual osteotomy line were also recorded. There were significant differences in the HVA and IMA between before and after the virtual surgery (P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of a 3D digital model in the treatment of hallux valgus deformity has a high clinical guidance value. At the same time, it lays a foundation for the realization of digital navigation surgery.
