| PurposeTo compare the diagnostic value of different MRI Scanning sequences in neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and explore the optimal MRI Scanning sequences.Materials and methodsAll 64 patients, who were diagnosed as neonatal HIE in Department of Neonatology of the Peace Hospital of Changzhi Medical College, Male 35 cases, female 29 cases, gestational age 27-41 weeks, were examined in the conditon of common MRI(including T1WI,T2WI,FLAIR), DWI(diffusion weighted imaging) and SWI(susceptibility weighted imaging). Checking time was set up from one to eight days after the onset. All of the imaging data were divided into 4 groups according to the different sequences, that is cMRI group, cMRI+DWI group, cMRI+SWI group and cMRI+DWI+SWI group. Each case was analyzed by two experienced MRI doctors, all positive cases and the number of lesions were compared among those different groups through statistical software.ResultsImaging of cMRI+DWI+SWI group scanning sequences were observed in all newborn HIE patients as follws:(1) diffuse cerebral edema 18 cases; (2) intracerebral hemorrhage 31 cases; (3) periventricular malacia lesions 2 cases; (4) Left temporal lobe cerebral infarction 1 case. (5) In addition to the cases outside, abnormal signals in cortex, subcortex and deep white matter 27 cases; In 64 cases of HIE, only 28 children and 49 lesions were found in cMRI groups. Otherwise 41 cases and 66 lesions in cMRI+DWI groups, 43 cases and 87 lesions in cMRI+SWI groups,53 cases and 104 lesions in cMRI+DWI+SWI groups. Through Statistical analysis, the positive rate detected by cMRI+DWI and cMRI+SWI was higher by the conventional sequences(P value<0.05, the difference was statistically significant), And also, the positive rate detected by cMRI+DWI+SWI was higher by conventional sequences and other sequences (P value <0.05, the difference was statistically significant).Conclusion1. cMRI+DWI+SWI sequence Scanning could showed the pathological changes properly and completely in newborn HIE.2. cMRI+DWI+SWI sequence Scanning combination was the optimal for newborn HIE. |
