Flemingia of5five species contained6germplasm (Flemingia macrophylla)(China), Flemingia macrophylla (Vietnam), Flemingia lineate, Flemingia latifolia, Flemingia latifolia var. hainanensis and Flemingia strobilifera) were used in this study to evaluate their feeding value. The nutrient compositions and tannin concentration of Flemingia in different growth stage (from June,2010to May,2011) were analyzed. The gas production (GP), in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and metabolic energy (ME) of these species were also determined by using in vitro gas production method. The results showed as follows:1. The nutrient compositions (crude protein CP, ether extract EE, relative feed value RFV) of the five species Flemingia changed along with the different growth stage. CP contents in the six germplasm Flemingia leaves ranged from15.65to20.85, and the average content was18.18%. The content of EE ranged from2.90%to4.77%, and averaged in3.70%. The energy value was between15.90and16.24MJ/kg. The contents of CP, EE and energy in the stem were7.37~10.73%(average in9.01%),1.51~2.49%(average in2.07%) and14.30~14.69MJ/kg (average in14.55), respectively. The higher nutritive value was contained in the leaves than that in the stem. A relative higher CP content and lower crude fiber content were contained during the flowering stage to vegetative growth phase (from January to May) than other growth period of the six germplasm Flemingia. So it could be used as a replaced forage grass in dry season.2. The leaves of Flemingia macrophylla and Flemingia lineate could be used as a protein feed resources for the higher nutrient compositions. The leaves of Flemingia lineate, Flemingia latifolia and Flemingia macrophylla were contained a higher nutrient compositions if evaluated by the RFV.3. The tannin content related to the Flemingia germplasm, organs and different growth stages. The tannin content ranged from1.82~2.70%(average in2.24%) and1.05~1.64%(average in1.39%) in leaves and the stem, respectively. For each Flemingia species, it could be used as the green forage as it's temperate tannin concentration. It would be taken into account the optimum dose for supplementing because of the higher tannin content of Flemingia latifolia and Flemingia strobilifera in each month, the highgest tannin content of which were2.97%,2.94%, respectively.4. The feeding value of the5five species of Flemingia (6germplasm) were studied by using in vitro gas production method. Except for Flemingia latifolia, the gas production and the dry matter digestibility of the stem in other five Flemingia species were higher than that in the leaves for each corresponded species. A relative higher gas production and the dry matter digestibility were observed in Flemingia macrophylla(China) and Flemingia macrophylla (Vietnam).5. The results showed that the feeding value of Flemingia leaves or stem was affected by the tannin concentration which negatively correlated to ADF and NDF (P<0.01).
