The Permanent magnet biased electromagnetism bearing (PMEB) has great advantages over magnetic bearing in many fields. Compared with the Active magnetic bearing, PMEB has reduced the electric current of loops, at the result of reducing the volume of power amplifier and radiator in electronic system, which can also help to reduce the power wastage of magnetic bearing. Therefore, PMEB has a prosperous application prospects. With the further expansion of the magnetic bearing applications, the limitations are also increasingly in demand. Especially, the ordinary magnetic bearings with short air-gap cannot be applied in the large-scale wind power equipment. Therefore, the research on large air-gap hybrid magnetic bearing is of great importance.This paper mainly focus on the large air-gap hybrid magnetic bearing. It starts from a series of the basic theories of magnetic bearings, using structural design, finite element analysis and the experimental equipment as the main research method. The main work of the discourse as follows:First, with the purpose of finding out a way to calculate the magnetic bearing's parameters, this paper has exactly introduced the structure of PEMB, further introduced its working principles, comprehensively established PEMB's mathematical model and control model. Second, the condition of the magnetic field of magnetic bearings has been worked out through the method of finite element which is based on the variational ideas. The magnetic field of magnetic bearings under different conditions has been simulated whit the ANSYS analysis. Third, all the statistics using for the designation of an experimental device with large air-gap hybrid magnetic bearing has been designed. In the end, I summarized the entire research and brought out the prosperous outlook for the further development and scientific study on PMEB.
