Recent years, the shortage of resources has been a serious problem of many countries and utilization rate of resources isn't high in our country. It is a significant strategic goal that how to rise the utilization rate of resources and reduce the loss of power grid. There is a lot of malfunction during reactor running. It's a big problem of reactor design that local overheat caused by additional loss because of leakage magnetic field. The complication of reactor construction is the reason why the distribution of additional loss isn't even. If the design is not appropriate, the reactor can not run well. With the enlargement of electric power system, small reactor can not meet the requirement. With the capacity of reactor getting larger, leakage magnetic flux and additional loss are getting larger, which makes local overheat more foregrounding. The research of reactor local overheat is obtained in this paper in detail.Based on electromagnetic field theory and modern calculating method, this paper research about high impedance controllable reactor. Firstly, significance of project and the development of research on additional loss at home and abroad are introduced. Then, the operating principle of this kind of controllable reactor and the possible problem while running are introduced. At last, the research on local overheat is done. This problem is about quasi-static alternative electromagnetic field and solved in eddy current field. With the analysis by finite element analysis software ANSOFT,3D finite element analysis model is built and calculation on 3D leakage magnetic field of reactor is done. According to the results, the way to reduce the additional loss caused by reactor leakage magnetic flux and lower temperature rising of metallic component is obtained.The shielding types are introduced and the method to reduce leakage magnetic flux and additional loss is obtained in this paper; different shielding types were analyzed and calculated. The additional loss of tank wall with different sizes of electricity shielding and magnetic shielding on was calculated. Meanwhile, the magnetic shielding of clip at different installation position was also analyzed. Finally, the shielding installation method with comprehensive performance to lower the additional loss of fuel tank and clip was obtained.By calculating additional losses of the various pieces, which couple the heat load to the temperature field indirectly, natural convection coefficient of heat transfer was obtained. The temperature field distribution of tank and metallic component and the method to lower the temperature rising was also obtained.
